Safety In An Alcove

This is a girl hiding in the centre of the alcove of one of the train tunnels, quite a risky place to play! She is playing hide and seek with somebody, and at the moment is waiting to be found. The setting is in modern times and she is clothed in modern fashions, such as the flower on her head and a pinafore dress.

This was drawn onto A5 Boldmere art paper initially using F 151 Artists' drawing pencil. Then the details were confirmed with B and 2B pencils. I referenced the pose from a deviantart picture, then referenced the alcove from another deviantart picture, the rest was drawn from the imagination. The finished drawing was fixed with hairspray. The picture was then scanned and darkened, then cleaned up in ArtRage because the spine caused the page to lift off the scanner glass. The whole picture took me a few hours to complete.

Please full view, the standard view is a bit choppy. I have also viewed this picture on a computer with a darker screen and found that areas where the original background wasn't erased appears darker. I don't have a solution for this except maybe to upload another file with all of the background cleaned, but it doesn't look too bad.
